Professional and research ethics
I have always been very aware and concerned about the ethical dilemmas that arise in my professional practice, discussed these issues extensively with Anat. I take great care to preserve the safety and confidentiality of my patients. The knowledge produced in authentic practitioner research relates directly to the lives of the participants, which in our case were us, psychotherapists and indirectly to our patients. Furthermore, the knowledge produced is intended to have an impact on practice in the profession and therefore is likely to affect the lives of many people. Therefore, meticulous attention was paid to the coherency of our statements which are derived from rigorous descriptions of our practice, including explanations for seemingly anomalous phenomena. For similar reasons, other ethical issues such as confidentiality, anonymity and the obligation for the patient's privacy, were always carefully addressed.
